ALPHA BETA RHO OMEGA CHAPTER
CHAPTER HISTORY
In 2019, several women to discuss a myriad of socio-economic needs in northern Bergen County, the most populous county in New Jersey and the sixth
most densely populated county in the United States. After months of working together during the COVID pandemic, the Pink Pearls of Pascack Valley became an
official interest group in February 2021.
During this time despite the pandemic, the Pink Pearls of Pascack Valley provided service and service to our community in various ways. We hosted a book discussion about the book, Summer on the Bluff with author Sunny Hostin. Under the leadership of the interest group President, Dr. Pamela Gary-Maple, in January of 2022, we donated to the food pantry at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Westwood, New Jersey in celebration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Day of Service. We also partnered with Meals on Wheels of Northern New Jersey to donate blizzard boxes to senior citizens. For the Sip and Pink fundraiser in March of 2022, we raised nearly $4000 and part of the proceeds funded scholarships that were awarded to two high school seniors in the Pascack Valley region. We also hosted programming in support of the five international target areas and hosted sisterly relations activities to forge our connections.
On June 14, 2022, under the leadership of North Atlantic Regional Director, Mary Bentley LaMar, the group transitioned to become the Alpha Beta Rho Omega Chapter to continue to serve our communities in New Jersey.
